Chemical imaging can provide information on morphology, print composition, ridge structure, and concentration of a lipids. Luminescence chemical imaging and visible absorbance chemical imaging have been successfully applied to iodine, and nanostructured metal-organic framework, luminescent dye-treated latent fingerprints. These covalently-linked organo polyhedra (COPs) demonstrate the potential to aid forensic investigations. Although a generalization, the lipids within the fingerprints are mainly composed of tetradecanoic, palmitic and stearic acid, whose concentration fluctuates over time as more volatile components evaporate. In any events the COP metal-organic framework was able to successfully adhere and resolve the fingerprint.
