Research in science education supports instructional strategies that involve active learning. Classes that incorporate collaborative activities have been shown to improve student performance, lower failure rates, increase attendance and participation, and promote critical thinking.   However, many professors are reluctant to change from instructor-focused lectures to student-centered problem solving exercises due to valid concerns about large class sizes, decreased content coverage, student resistance to new approaches, and increased preparation time.  This presentation will demonstrate a variety of methods for incorporating active learning into college courses.  Curriculum materials from the Analytical Sciences Digital Library that promote student engagement in lecture and laboratory courses will be described. <br/>
