The <i>N</i>-(2-aryl-thiazol-5-yl) amides are a new class of insecticides with activity against a variety of sap feeding pests. Previous SAR investigations have been focused on optimization of the amide tail portion. In an attempt to further increase the biological activity, an investigation of substituent effects on pyridine A-ring was deemed necessary. The development of a new synthetic route and subsequent synthesis of pyridine substituted analogs as well as their biological activity will be discussed.
