From it inception in 2009 through 2018, the Reynolds group at the University of Florida and the Georgia Institute of Technology has had the opportunity to publish 32 papers in the journal <i>ACS Applied Materials and Interfaces</i>.  As a demonstration of the journal’s breadth of science, and its impact on our group’s research efforts, these can be divided into 11 publications addressing electrochromism (EC), 10 in organic photovoltaics (OPV), 4 in dye sensitized solar cells (DSSCs), 3 in charge storage, 2 in solar fuels, 1 in organic light emitting devices (OLEDs), and 1 in charge transport. With this in mind, this presentation will focus on our most recent advances in the two main areas, EC and OPV.  Concerning EC, we will discuss strategies for accessing virtually any color in the color space through simple and predictive solution color mixing of electrochromic polymers (ECPs). In addition to vibrantly colored blends, we will present approaches to high contrast black and brown ECP films based on random polymerization and multi-ECP blending methods. Moving to OPV, we seek to understand power conversion efficiency (PCE) optimization using an approach of a “minimal structural change” to investigate the effect of specific and controlled modifications in polymer structures on material properties and device performance. We will discuss how this concept is embedded in projects that provide organic solar cells with &gt;10% PCE, and investigate the role of copolymerization on structural order in developing structure-property-performance relationships.  As an over-arching aspect of this work, processing of these materials is carried out using a variety of solution methods including spin-coating, spray-coating, blade-coating, slot die coating, and ink jet printing. <br/>
