Electrochemical sensors are important tools in analytical chemistry. These sensors sometimes involve the use of electrodes to induce deposition and subsequent stripping of an analyte in order to extract quantitative information such as concentration. Obtaining a better understanding of the electrochemical behavior of these processes could further the development of electrochemical sensors. To that end, the time dependence of current during the deposition of metals on indium tin oxide electrodes was investigated via the Cottrell equation using chronoamperometric techniques. Deviations from the Cottrell equation were investigated due to the thermodynamic effects of metal deposition on the electrode surface.
