Mesoporous metal oxides with high surface area, uniform porous structures have demonstrated wide advantages at the cutting edge of catalysis. However, the synthesis approach often occurred in organic solvents, significant inhibiting its practical applications. Herein, we report a mechanochemical self-assembly route to synthesize mesoporous Al2O3 (meso-Al2O3) in non-solvent condition via aluminum isopropoxide-copolymers crosslinking. The obtained meso-Al2O3 shows a high surface area (~644 m2 g-1) and unifrom pore size (~5 nm). Moreover, mesoporous metal (Cu, Ni, Fe, Co, Mn and Mg)-aluminum oxide hybrids are successfully synthesized by metal chlorides and aluminum isopropoxide interplay (known as nonhydrolytic sol-gel route) using mechanochemical assembly with copolymers. More importantly, four or five metal species-aluminum oxide hybrids with rich mesoporous structure and single cubic crstalline phase was discorved. The superior CO oxidation acitvity of these mixed mesoporous metal oxide catalysts open the door for the facile, green and large-scale preparation of a new class of catalysts.
