Chemistry is a central science which has strong impacts on our life and our future. Chemical education plays a vital role in fostering students’ science literacy in all fields of studies at the tertiary education level. Higher education in Macau is developing rapidly. However, research on chemical education and professional education is rare. The aim of this paper is to introduce the design and implementation of the general chemistry course as professional development and to analyze the characteristics of chemistry curriculum for police officers and fire fighters in Macau.
