In this work, we rationally developed a Cu oxide (CuOx) nanoarray film (NF) as an ideal platform to investigate the doping effects of iron group metals due to its electrocatalytically inert and oxidatively stable features. Especially, the trace amount of Co dopants are examined to be the active sites for OER and CuOx is employed as a size-controllable and inert matrix for mediating the electrocatalytic active sites of Co. Using the proposed CuOx, the interference of OER activity from the matrix could be ruled out, and therefore, the influence of hybridization and electron interaction in the OER performance could also be experimentally examined.
