ChEmory is Emory University’s undergraduate chemistry club that has been recognized as both an ACS Outstanding Chapter and an ACS-Certified Green Chapter for multiple years in a row. The mission of our organization is to share our passion for chemistry with fellow undergraduate students as well as surrounding community members of Atlanta. Our extremely dedicated officers, members, and faculty advisors collaborate every year to involve students and community members in educational chemical demonstrations and work with the American Chemical Society at a local, state and national level. We strive to empower undergraduates in exploring careers in chemistry by offering opportunities such as forensics tours, medical school and graduate school career panels, careers in chemistry office hours, women in chemistry career panels, mentorship programs for underclassmen, brewery tours, chemical demonstration trainings, and many more events. We collaborate with graduate students at Emory to assist undergraduates with everything from getting started in undergraduate research to graduate school application processes. Furthermore, with the help of the Emory's Chemistry Department, we get in contact with guest speakers who can discuss careers outside of the laboratory or academia that a Ph.D. degree in chemistry can lead to. We are actively involved in the Atlanta community with our outreach programs at elementary, middle, and high schools. We are also involved with Atlanta-wide events, such as the Atlanta Science Festival. The Spring 2018 Atlanta Science Festival drew thousands of people of from all over Atlanta, and our organization created a booth explaining non-Newtonian fluids. We pride ourselves in offering students and community members both young and old the opportunity to explore the exciting wonders of chemistry by demonstrating and communicating science in a fun and engaging way. We constantly strive to strengthen our involvement and role as advocates of science education in as an undergraduate organization at Emory University and in the Atlanta community.
