The University of California, San Diego chapter of the American Chemical Society-Student Affiliates (ACS-SA) serves as a comprehensive resource for undergraduate students who are interested in and passionate about chemistry. As a student-led organization, ACS-SA hosts a variety of social, service, academic, and professional events to facilitate undergraduate students’ success and engagement in the chemical sciences. These include career and professional school panels, green chemistry demonstrations, academic and industry lab tours, San Diego chemistry expositions and outreach, and an annual chemistry undergraduate research symposium for the local community. In addition, our weekly general body meetings typically feature presentations from a chemistry professional and opportunities for peer-networking. By hosting regular activities, organizing programs, and starting new initiatives, we have effectively informed undergraduates of opportunities in the field of chemistry and strengthened student engagement in our chapter.
