Silanes and boranes represent powerful intermediate functional groups. There has been considerable work done on the synthesis of organoboranes using economical catalysts, however, there is still work to be done that incorporates a silane into an organic molecule that uses such an economical catalyst. The addition of a copper silyl complex to an imine stoichiometrically will be discussed.  Development of  copper-catalyzed addition of silanes to imines using a disilane as the silicon source will also be discussed. α-Silylamines represent useful starting materials which could be used in further transformations as umpolung substrates.  Since umpolung synthesis remains a challenge, usually requiring several complex steps, expedient synthesis of convenient starting materials remains important.<br/>
