The University of New England Chemistry Club, comprised of students at all grade levels with varied academic backgrounds, strives to make chemistry accessible to the community on campus and beyond. The group focuses on (1) keeping members engaged and involved, (2) preparing members for their professional futures in the chemical sciences, and (3) serving as chemistry ambassadors, promoting chemistry to the public. Our chapter places emphasis on participation in outreach activities, particularly those involving green chemistry, as a way to make chemistry more accessible to non-majors and the general public. We have become known on campus for our traditional week-long schedule of events in recognition of National Chemistry Week. Additionally, we strive to emphasize many social events to keep members engaged, including our annual fall field trip and holiday party. In recognition of our efforts, the UNE Chemistry Club was recognized as an Outstanding Student Chapter and a Green Chemistry Student Chapter for the third consecutive year for the 2017-18 academic year.
