Located on the coast of Southern Maine, the University of New England Chemistry Club strives to keep Green Chemistry at the center of its activities. UNE Chemistry Club aims to (1) educate members about Green Chemistry and (2) promote Green Chemistry to our peers and the public. The cornerstone of our involvement in Green Chemistry is our relationship with Beyond Benign. Each year, members attend training to become outreach fellows. Our trained fellows are then able to educate other club members and perform outreach activities throughout the state of Maine centered around Green Chemistry. In the past, the implementation of these demonstrations has ranged from K-12 community events such as Harvest Fest, Portland STEM Expo, and Maine State Science Festival to Green Chemistry lectures and Chem Demo Exchange. Through our efforts to promote Green Chemistry, UNE Chemistry Club has been driven to promote the university motto: <i>innovation for a healthier planet</i>. In recognition of our work to promote Green Chemistry, ACS GCI has awarded UNE Chemistry Club the Green Chemistry Chapter Award for the 2015-16, 2016-17, and 2017-18 academic years.
