Laboratory experiments and course content originating from the chemistry Collaborations, Workshops, and Communities of Scholars (cCWCS) program related to the issues of Green Chemistry (attended summer 2012) and Environmental Chemistry  (attended summer 2013) have been incorporated into the General Chemistry I and II courses at Craven Community College over the past 4 years.  Student learning outcomes have been used to evaluate the effectiveness of the course content from the workshops increasing student performance on exams and retention of information carrying over to the second semester of the course.  Examples from lecture, outside of class assignments, and laboratory experiments will be discussed.
