The -CHF<sub>2</sub> moiety has known an increasing interest in Life Science oriented research over the last few years. Its introduction is an important research topic for organic chemists. Several groups have reported on the synthesis of difluoromethylated compounds. However, the enantioselective introduction of the difluoromethyl group has been so far scarcely described.<br/>We recently reported on a new strategy, based on the use of an enantiopure α,α- difluoromethylated sulfoxide used as chiral and traceless auxiliary, for the access to highly enantioenriched α,α-difluoromethylated alcohols.
