With rising utilization of nanomaterials in both research and commercial applications, the potential for release into the aquatic environment and subsequent aquatic organism exposure increases. In assessing nanoparticle toxicity, studies have shown that nanoparticle attachment to cell membranes is a critical step in adverse outcome pathways and that nanoparticle attachment to cell membranes is an important determinant of cellular internalization of nanoparticles.  In this work, attachment of graphene oxide (GO) and reduced graphene oxide (rGO) nanoparticles to 1,2-dioleoyl-sn-glyero-3-phosphocholine (DOPC) supported lipid bilayers (SLB) are measured using a quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation monitoring (QCM-D).  Results indicate that there is no significant GO or rGO deposition on DOPC SLBs from low ionic strength background solutions, but that significant depositional differences exist between GO and rGO as ionic strength increases.  Both GO and rGO remain attached during background solution rinses and even as background ionic strength is reduced, indicating electrostatic force is not the only factor controlling GO and rGO deposition and release.  Finally, characteristics of the DOPC model membrane SLBs are compared to membranes reconstituted from fathead minnow (<i>Pimephales promelas</i>) epithelial cell extracts.<br/>
