Through the use of an active flipped classroom, a blended learning approach, and alternative assessment, the research looks to determine the effect of the teaching method on the students’ attitudes toward physical chemistry, performance in the class, and critical thinking ability. Using a standardized exam, pre-and post-test scores will be compared to analyze performance gains. A validated survey will assess the students’ attitudes towards the class and if there was any significant change. A project based assessment will be utilized to help show the students’ critical thinking ability by having them explain superheroes using thermodynamics. This would help the students think critically by explaining fictional concepts using thermodynamics. We anticipate positive gains in every area. If so, think could mean that we are battling the negative preconception associated with the class and enhancing the students’ learning.<br/>
