<br/>This article reports a simple microfluidic strategy for one-step fabrication of chitosan microcapsules with nanowalls from oil-in-water (O/W) emulsion templates. The ultrathin walls of microcapsules are only formed at the interface of the O/W emulsions via the interfacial reaction between chitosan in aqueous phase and terephthalaldehyde in oil core. The resultant wall thickness of the chitosan microcapsules can be controlled less than 10 nm and the stability of the wall is quite good, which makes the microcapsules exhibit excellent structure integrity. No surfactant is used in the whole preparation process, and the prepared chitosan microcapsules present acceptable biocompatibility. The microfluidic fabrication strategy presented here provides valuable guidance for design and fabrication of polymeric microcapsules with ultrathin walls to enhance their performances in biological and medical applications.<br/>
