A series of 2-deoxy-2-iodo-D-glucobenzotriazoles were synthesized using benzyl and acetyl protected D-glucal in the presence of N-iodosuccinimide with a high degree of stereoselectivity.  Subsequent removal of the iodonie using tri-butyltin hydride under free radical conditions afforded the 2-deoxy-D-glucose benzotriazoles in moderate to high yields.  The preparation of various N-glycooxazolines, N-glycothiazoline and imidazoline carbohydrate-fused heterocyclic compounds were also achieved in one step using the benzyl protected D-glucal in the presence of N-iodosuccinimide under reflux conditions.  The anti-proliferative activity of the newly synthesized compounds using HeLa cells were studied and herein in presented.<br/>
