Rare-earth metal complexes composed of a yttrium metal center and multidentate supporting ligands are interest for multiple applications like ring-opening polymerization of lactones and C-H bond activation. In many cases, the yttrium atom is supported by a tetradentate or pentadentate ligand with nitrogen and oxygen donor atoms with the coordination sphere completed with alkyl, silyl amide or alkoxide ligands. Yet, fewer examples in the literature utilize a tridentate NNO ligand. This project sought to probe the utility of a tridentate NNO Schiff base ketoiminate with a pendant quinolyl donor by employing synthetic methods previously used in this laboratory. The reaction of tris-(silylamide) yttrium complexes with ketoimine pro-ligand and substituted phenols was explored. An immediate bathochromic shift was observed upon combination of reactants and the resulting complexes were characterized by <sup>1</sup>H NMR and absorbance spectroscopy. Electronic and steric properties of the ketoimine and phenol were examined and compared to other metal complexes.
