A major challenge of conventional scanning electrochemical microscopy (SECM) is the trade-off between spatial resolution and areal scan rate. Due to the point-by-point imaging routine employed with conventional ultramicroelectrodes (UME), excessive imaging times are required to achieve high resolution imaging over large sample areas (i.e. &gt; 1 mm<sup>2</sup>). This challenge becomes particularly problematic for samples that are sparsely populated with electroactive objects, or experiments for which sample degradation becomes an issue over long imaging times. In this talk, I will describe our team’s efforts to decouple resolution from scan time by using scanning band electrodes, also known as continuous line probes (CLPs), which are capable of high throughput SECM imaging thanks to their ability to simultaneously detect signal everywhere along the length of the probe. The non-local nature of CLPs results in raw signal that is highly convoluted, requiring image reconstruction using compressed sensing (CS) signal analysis algorithms. After describing a home-built SECM microscope specifically designed for CLP-SECM, I will show examples of SECM images of samples comprised of electroactive disk electrodes. The performance of CLPs is compared to conventional UMEs, highlighting the potential of SECM based on non-local probes and CS to vastly improve areal scan rates compared to imaging with conventional “point probes”.<br/>
