Mesoporous oxides films have attracted, over recent years, an increasing attention both for energy storage, energy conversion and as catalysts for water oxidation. Besides practical applications, important fundamental issues are raised by behavior of such porous films in particular regarding electron and proton conduction through the film.<br/>Cyclic voltammetric and conductivity studies of electrodeposited cobalt oxide films shows that both capacitive and faradaic processes are at play as the conductivity of the film has been turned on upon polarization. The role of proton transfer and transport coupled to electron transfer in such processes will be described and modeled.
