The National Science Foundation supported project entitled, Polymer Chemistry: Crosslinking the Curriculum (PC<sub>3</sub>) (NSF-DUE 1611988), was initiated by the chemistry and biochemistry faculty at Armstrong State University in an effort to enhanced polymer instruction to satisfy new requirements for American Chemical Society Certified Bachelor’s Degrees. The project was implemented across all five chemistry sub-disciplines (General, Organic, Inorganic, Instrumental and Biochemistry), whereby polymer-based experiments were introduced to the laboratories using only two polymers with the intent to show how the chemistry sub-disciplines are interconnected. Our synergetic approach has polymers or monomers (starting materials to produce polymers) produce in one experiment to be used for another experiment in another sub-discipline course. The selected experiments were not only used to expose students to polymer concepts but also provide instruction on topics traditionally covered in the sub-disciplines. This discussion will cover the genesis of the idea, implementation, and the challenges and benefits of this approach.
