Gold-catalyzed oxidative coupling of alkynes was developed as an efficient approach for the synthesis of challenging cyclic conjugated diyne. When we introduced CCDs into peptide chains, we are glad to see that the i+2 peptide can form the beta strand structure by itself with the help of the ring strain formed from the gold catalyzed oxidative coupling reaction. This reaction can be simply finished during the SPPS procedure while synthesizing the peptides. Further application of this design is now under investigation by our group.
