Our mission statement as an American Chemical Society chapter of the University of Tampa is to pledge to expand knowledge and bring awareness to the subject of chemistry among our university and the greater public. We are a progressive and abitious group that conducts chemistry themed community outreach events in the greater Tampa Bay area, and further our members' scientific awareness and professional development. In the past year, we have tremendously grown as a chapter and established a board of officers. The community outreach aspect of our organization includes inviting the local Girl Scouts to our campus for a day of chemistry-related activities, and also going to the Glaziers Childrens Museum and make slime and elephant toothpaste with kids. For professional development, we focus on lessening the gap between the student and the professional. We have held a Chemistry Professional Pathways Forum this fall, where professionals spoke along a panel about their journey through the science field. We introduce our members to the chemistry professors who conduct research, and we also invite speakers to further the members' scientific awareness. Through outreach and professional development, our organziation succeeds in and continues to spread enthusiasm for science academia throughout campus and surrounding community.
