Strontium is a naturally occurring element found in surface water in the watersheds of Ohio. Strontium levels can tell much about the water chemistry related to nearby bedrock, as well as be indicative of pollution and coal mining. The isotopes <sup>87</sup>Sr/<sup>86</sup>Sr were measured from water samples obtained through the National Center for Water Quality Research at Heidelberg University from the Scioto River, Rock Creek, and the Maumee River. Inductively coupled plasma- mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) was used to detect and compare isotopic ratios and how they align with major weather events and surrounding geochemistry. Strontium levels were used to correlate the isotopic ratios (either higher, normal, or lower than average) with human interference such as agricultural and industrial areas.
