Despite the best efforts to grow diversity in STEM fields from the ground up, there are still many barriers that lead to the loss of diverse populations at every level along the way. In order to advance the goal of Inclusive Excellence, leaders need to insure that quality mentoring is available, effective, and ongoing at all levels, and they must help to build a sense of community that welcomes and supports a diverse array of participants.
