The ‘Dial-a-Molecule’ (DaM) Physical Science Grand Challenge Network champions the need to transform the way in which synthesis is carried out, moving away from slow, labour-intensive manual methods to highly automated, data-centric approaches. For this ideal to be realised, significant incorporation of cross-disciplinary skills from chemistry, engineering and computing/statistics/informatics are needed. The Centre for Rapid Online Analysis of Reactions (ROAR) is based at the Molecular Sciences Research Hub at Imperial College’s White City Campus. It offers state-of-the-art automated reaction platforms and analytical instruments dedicated to the study of reactions. The vision, challenges and projects of ROAR will be presented.
