In Chemistry, Engineering and Business, I will discuss my career path from bench science to launching a scientific instrument company. I will show how creativity/innovation in chemistry can be applied to solving problems in areas outside the lab settings. During this seminar I will attempt to show how bench scientists can apply their knowledge to solving global problems. The seminar will discuss briefly my contributions to the discovery of the cancer drug Tafinlar. Majority of the seminar will be focused on entrepreneuraship and starting a business as a chemist. This seminar will also discuss the invention, design, production and marketing of Ecodyst’s new generation rotovaps. Ecodyst is the innovative leader of the new generation of rotary evaporators that are environmentally friendly, easy to use, more convenient and eliminates the material (water and dry ice) waste and cost associated with conventional rotovaps.
