Riboswitches are natural regulatory RNA structures found primarily in the untranslated regions of bacterial mRNAs that control gene expression in response to a specific metabolite ligand. In this talk, I will provide an overview of the latest discoveries in the riboswitch field that highlight different modes of plasticity of small molecule binding sites in RNA. Then I will present our latest work on the discovery and engineering of riboswitches and other small molecule-binding motifs.<br/>
