The Green Chemistry Commitment (GCC) is a consortium program that aims to unite the green chemistry community around shared goals and a common vision to: expand the community of green chemistry practitioners, grow departmental resources for adopting green chemistry, improve connections to industry and job opportunities in green chemistry, and affect systemic change in chemistry education. The GCC program launched in 2013 with 13 signers and has grown to include 50 signers from 18 U.S. states, 2 Canadian institutions, and 1 institution in Columbia. The First Annual GCC Summit was held on July 29, 2018 during the Biennial Conference on Chemical Education (BCCE) at the University of Notre Dame. The Summit was the first attempt to bring together a cohort of GCC signers to share resources and best practices, and plan for future collaborations. This presentation will provide a report on the program to date, including initiatives from current signers, and key findings from the First Annual GCC Summit. Future directions for the program will also be discussed, including the development of open-access toxicology resources for chemistry faculty and other collaborative projects that contribute to the growing field of green chemistry.
