Green Chemistry also known as sustainable or environmentally benign chemistry has already demonstrated how chemistry can protect human health and the environment in an economically beneficial manner. Green Chemistry Network Centre (GCNC) established under the American Chemical Society’s IUPAC CHEMRAWN GCI-DEN Grant and recommendation of a panel of world leaders headed by Professor Paul Anastas (known as father of Green Chemistry) is working for the implementation of Green Chemistry. This presentation will describe the activities of the centre and discuss the opportunities for the next generation engineers, educationists and material designers to create a safer future. The presentation shall include demonstration of Green Chemistry experiment taken from a monograph published by us along with a real world case of Indian Pharmaceutical Industry which proves that the Industries have to adopt Green Chemistry because, it will not be only beneficial for the society and the environment, will make companies competitive and provide costs benefits for industries. Recently GCNC introduced two papers in undergraduate syllabus of University of Delhi. Presentation will describe how GCNC is changing the mind set of young students.
