Circularly polarized light (CPL) has attracted a lot of attention for its use as security-enhanced optical communication, quantum optical information processing, and future display devices. To make full use of it, optical/electronic conversion devices that enables to detect the chirality of circularly polarized light and convert it to electronic signal is required. Conjugated polymers are promising materials for chiral photonics because of its simple solution-processability as well as facile modification of opto-electronic properties by self-organization of molecules.<br/>In this work, we demonstrated on the formation of chiroptical conjugated polymer thin-films by blending of enantiomer molecules as a dopant. The molecular interaction between conjugated polymer and enantiomer molecules induced the π-π stacking of conjugated polymer chains, which led to changes in optical properties of the thin films. The phase-separation of the blend films was finely controlled by using thermal annealing process. As a result, we found that a bi-layered heterojunction thin-film structures with the microcrystals of enantiomer small molecules located at the top surface was developed. This hetrojucntion thin-films showed unique circular dichroism (CD) properties in the wavelength range of 350-500 nm, wich was attributed to the chirality induction from the chiral enantiomer to achiral conjugated polymer by the energy or charge transfer. As a proof of concept, we successfully demonstrated a photonic device detecting the handness of CPL by using this self-organized heterojunction thin films.
