The effect and toxicity of copper (Cu) accumulation by the aquatic macrophyte <i>Bacopa monnieri</i> exposed to copper nanoparticles (CuO-NPs) and ionic copper as Cu(II) will be studied. It is well known that the effect of NPs on aquatic plants has seldom been studied, even though their exposure to this type of particles is likely, particularly those plants that are found in aquatic environments affected by anthropogenic pollution. Among the tasks that will be done include sample collection from a local natural wetland, acclimatization of plants, sample treatment of contaminated water and plant tissues, and sample analysis by means of a flame atomic absorption spectrometer (FAAS) for measuring the concentration levels of Cu. The results obtained from this research may serve as the basis to explore the transport and accumulation of metal NPs in aquatic macrophytes.
