In this work, a novel photoelectrochemical (PEC) system, with WO3 as photoanode and F doped porous carbon (FPC) as cathode, was constructed for highly efficient and selective production of H2O2 and subsequent pollutants degradation. Under visible light illumination, the PEC system facilitated photogenerated electrons in WO3 photoanode transferred to FPC cathode, under the assistance of applied anodic potential, to tune the H2O2 production. Correspondingly, the obviously enhanced H2O2 production efficiency (from 0.09 mmol L-1 h-1 to 0.87 mmol L-1 h-1) was obtained with applied potential increasing from 0.4 V to 1.2 V (vs SCE), which can be attributed to more photogenerated electrons transferred from WO3 photoanode to FPC cathode and participated in the oxygen reduction reaction. The highest Faradaic efficiency (FE) of 75.40 % was obtained at 1.0 V bias. Moreover, the influence of other parameters including solution pH, loading amount of FPC catalyst and irradiation wavelength were also investigated, and the apparent quantum yield (AQY) was calculated to be 7.54 % at 420 nm (pH of 1 and applied potential of 1.0 V). Meanwhile, the PEC degradation performance towards Phenol, Bisphenol and Atrazine was measured after introduction of Fe2+. Related results show that the PEC-Fenton system displayed efficient degradation (90 %) and mineralization (40 %) abilities towards all above pollutants under optimal condition (pH of 4, applied potential of 1.0 V and 0.1 mM Fe2+). Compared to conventional PEC system, the WO3-FPC PEC system is a more viable and efficient method for H2O2 production and pollutants degradation.
