Ceria (CeO2) has been widely used as a potential support for many reactions due to its unique redox-property and oxygen storage capacity. The oxygen storage capacity depended on the physical properties such as crystallite size, surface area and oxygen vacancies. In this work, ceria supports were prepared by hydrothermal method, which was an easy approach for ceria synthesis with the desirable control. In addition, Cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) surfactant was used as a soft template to control ceria nanomaterial such as uniform morphology and narrower pore size distribution. Hence, the CTAB concentration (0.01-0.4 M), CTAB/Ce3+ ratio, and reaction temperature were varied during ceria synthesis. The different ceria morphology and particle size were obtained. The synthesized ceria were characterized by several techniques such as scanning electron microscopy (SEM), BET surface area measurement, X-ray diffractometry (XRD) and temperature-programmed reduction (TPR).
