CdSe quantum dots have been one of the most common and effective nanocrystals used in the photovoltaic cells, and over past decade became one of the most reliable semiconducting materials. CdSe have been implemented in light emissions, nanosensing, and high-efficiency solar cells making it one of the most reliable n-type semiconducting material. We have used  modified procedures to synthesize CdSe quantum dots. The size and concentration of quantum dots were determined using UV-spectra and fluorescence. We were able to identify and characterize these QDs due to their unique photoluminescent properties, and spectra. The focus of our experiment was to synthesize water soluble CdSe quantum via exchanging ligands. With the ability to enhance the photoelectric properties of the QDs, we can further study charge transfer between metal-reducing bacteria and nanomaterials in an aqueous environment.
