Microwave assisted organic synthesis has been used to optimize reaction time by systematically changing multiple variables one at a time.   Factors that may influence microwave synthesis include reaction time, temperature and wattage. Herein, we attempt to gain better understanding of the effect of these factors on the oxidation of 9-fluorenol and benzhydrol.  The novelty of this study is the utilization of factorial design of experiment approach. This is performed by means of factorial design of experiment, the Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and multiple regression analysis. The factorials are useful in assessing the statistical significance to evaluate collectively these factors. This provides information about what happens when the factor is changed and about the potential interaction between factors. The response factor is this percent yield of the product in the synthesis. The factors will be designed and run at multiple levels. Temperature (80°C, 100°C, 120°C), time (3min, 5min, 7min, 10min) and wattage (600, 800, 1000, 1200). <br/>
