Dog food is not FDA regulated and therefore has very little regulation on the ingredients and labeling. This research project is ultimately aimed toward obtaining useful and accurate analyses of metals present in various dry and wet dog food brands. Different methods used to digest the samples will be investigated. Samples will be analyzed using MP-AES (microwave plasma atomic emission spectroscopy) to test the amount of 14 different metals possibly present in the samples.
