Previously, it has been shown that the underpotential deposition (UPD) of a saturated silver chloride solution applied at a specific potential onto a Au(111) crystal forms a thermally stable monolayer of silver atoms. This nano-alloy was studied using electrochemical scanning tunneling microscopy (EC-STM) and is stable up to 1,000K. It has also been shown that silver halides have two separate UPD potentials at which a monolayer can be deposited onto Au(111). The two UPD potentials correspond to two distinct mechanisms with each mechanism creating a unique monolayer of silver atoms in terms of chemistry and atomic spacings. In one mechanism, the silver halide exists as a solvated ionic species, but in the second mechanism, it exists as a formula unit. The two UPD potentials form different types of nano-alloys which possess different physical and thermal properties. The nano-alloy created from the formula unit is thermally stable. However, the nano-alloy deposited from a solvated ionic species is not. Current studies will investigate these two types of nano-alloys formed from saturated AgCl and AgBr solutions and their unique properties using EC-STM and cyclic voltammetry.<br/><br/>
