Transformation of structure and charge-transport properties as a function of a vacancy-order has been investigated through synthesis of a few series of vacancy-ordered oxygen deficient perovskites. Powder X-ray diffraction, Neutron diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and variable-temperature electrical conductivity studies of these materials have been studied to examine these transformations. It has been found that the conductivity increases with the increase of vacancy disorder at room temperature. During variable temperature conductivity measurement, the ordered materials show semiconductor like behaviour while disordered materials show metallic type conductivity. Several families of ODPs have been studied such as Sr2-xCaxFe2O5 (x = 0 and 1) and Ca2-xSrxFeCoO6-δ, (x = 0 1 and 2) series.
