LnPd-SiR3+ complexes can transfer silylium ion to oxygenated nucleophiles to concomitantly yield O-silyloxonium ions and nucleophilic Pd(0) intermediates that efficiently intercept the activated oxygenates. This reactivity enables numerous catalytic reactions wherein the C–O bond of carbonyls and aliphatic ethers and alcohols can be activated for reduction. Synthesis of the Pd-silyl cations and their catalytic behavior will be described.<br/>
