Peroxygens, including hydrogen peroxide and organic peroxides, find use in a wide range of consumer products and industrial applications.  In particular, hydrogen peroxide is employed in formulations for cleaning products used in industrial, institutional, and consumer settings, and organic peroxides are used extensively in industrial processes including radical polymerization initiation and polymer crosslinking.  The development of technologies to enhance or expand the reactivity of current peroxygens is of significant commercial interest.  This talk will provide highlights from Arkema’s development and implementation of applications-focused test methodologies to identify transition metal-based molecules for (1) the activation of hydrogen peroxide for cleaning products, and (2) the promotion of organic peroxides for curing unsaturated polyester composite systems.
