A series of photocatalyst were introduced for producing hydrogen by water splitting.Water is splitted under UV radiation using photocatalysts like CdS/CNT.NiS modified three-dimensional CdS were synthesised as further improved method. Later on, K2Ti8O17 nanorod photocatalyst that are having enough of surface OH groups are produced using Pt cocatalyst that is approximately gaining 300 times higher values with that to K2Ti8Ot,is suggested that more hydroxyl radical generated result in higher holes consumption via methanol oxidation reaction.But the leading obstacle is the formation of hydrogen peroxide as by product.The scientists determined the key function of electron spin which says hydrogen peroxide requires opposite spins to form and so the concept of supramolecular chemistry came into existence.Titanium oxide and chiral molecules were being used to allign the electron spin in suggested direction through supramolecule structures in order to suppress hydrogen peroxide formation and producing efficient hydrogen from water splitting.
