Non-planar polycyclic hydrocarbons have interesting physical properties and chemical relativities, due to their built-in strain and non-equivalent surfaces. The photoreactivity of corannulene azide was investigated by isolating and characterize its photoproducts. The reaction mechanisms for corannulene azide was characterized using laser flash photolysis, UV/Vis and ESR spectroscopy. Computational studies were preformed to compare the unique reactivity and physical properties of corannulene azide to planar polycyclic azides.
