This presentation will cover how business continuity and emergency planning support research operations and the importance of preplanning.  Each research principal investigator or researcher should understand what infrastructure (potable water, steam, electricity) supports their research laboratory and the implications of an interruption.  Can the laboratory survive a 24, 48, 72- or 96-hour interruption?  What are the risks of these interruptions?  If a disaster occurs, are there back up systems to maintain data.  Who is available to support emergency responders if there are questions?  What happens if the laboratory/building is declared uninhabitable?
