Millions of tons of wastes are generated every year from construction and demolition activities worldwide. One sustainable option to take advantage of this is to re-use some of these residues as source for alternative products. In this line, geopolymers made from recycled fired clay brick powder (FCBP) are interesting candidates since they can be developed as alternative low-CO2 emission cementitious material. This study aims at analyzing the influence of the synthesis parameters in the activators, and variations in the curing process in the compression strength of FCBP-based geopolymers. Geopolymer pastes were designed by changing sodium oxide (Na2O) content (6%, 8% and 10%), SiO2/Na2O (Ms) ratio (0.50, 0.55 and 0.60), water/binder ratio (0.25, 0.26, 0.27, 0.28 and 0.29), curing temperature (65, 80 and 95°C) and oven curing time (1, 3 and 7 days). The results of the uniaxial compression tests of almost 90 samples indicated that the compression strength is directly influenced by the mentioned parameters. The tests allowed defining optimum conditions of synthesis parameters and curing conditions which allowed obtaining high compression strengths of up to 37 MPa.
