Compounds containing <i>s</i>-block metals are highly sought after as precursor materials for the Metal Organic Chemical Vapor Deposition (MOCVD) process with applications for novel and improved electronic materials. Previous work in the Ruhlandt-Senge group have been focused on the synthesis and characterization of novel homoleptic alkaline earth metal pyrazolate and tetraarylborate complexes. This project is geared to prepare the heteroleptic compounds, based on these well-understood homoleptic systems. Little is known on the formation of the heteroleptic compounds, as such there is still a need to examine and further explore the synthesis, effects of various Lewis bases, along with theoretical calculation to provide an improve understanding towards the heteroleptic species.
