Our aim focuses on a climate change research program to convert greenhouse gases, carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane (CH4) to high quality fuels (methanol and hydrogen. CO2 hydrogenation can be carried out using copper, cobalt and manganese oxides in recent publications [1,2]. The oxidation of methane to methanol can be achieved by using only the active site of the enzyme (PMMO), which consists of two copper atoms and an imidazole molecule [3]. We discovered that metal nanoparticles that are smaller than one nanometer (40 atoms) have electronic structures of the oxidation states of ions. For example, platinum or gold becomes Pt2+ and Pt4+ and Au2+ and Au4+ and rhodium Rh3+. These small size ions can carry out homogeneous catalytic reactions if they are stabilized by dendrimer polymers.
