This presentation will describe recent aircraft field measurement based constraints on secondary organic aerosol yield from the NO3 oxidation of isoprene, which may be important in the southeastern United States residual layer. These field studies, which found higher yields that previously measured in the laboratory, prompted a new set of atmospheric simulation chamber experiments to refine understanding of the oxidation mechanism and aerosol yields from this reaction, under varying conditions of oxidant : isoprene ratio, humidity, and seed aerosol. This presentation will synthesize field observations with preliminary results from new chamber studies.
